I have had the chance to be presented the new Microsoft Surface a few weeks ago (http://www.surface.com). It is an amazing product: think about it as a big table with a computer inside, a lot of optoelectronic and cameras, as well as IR detection system, and a very special crystal glass where the image is projected through a kind of dlp projector.
When fingers or objetcs are moved on top of the surface of the table, the software (Windows Vista plus a very new UI interface) recognise how many people are around the table, gestures, objects (for example mobile phones or pdas) and how to deal with them.
Possibilities of application development are unlimited, and a handfull of new things will grown up from this new surface technology.
I could only wish Santa to drop me one of those gadgets to develop a few things on my own in Christmas …
